Houston, Texas – Drivers across Harris County should watch for standing water and rapidly rising creeks this afternoon as a Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. Friday.
According to the US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas, heavy rain has already begun to impact parts of the region, leading to localized flooding in low-lying areas. The advisory includes Houston and surrounding communities such as Pasadena, Spring, and Baytown.
Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone roads, monitor real-time traffic updates, and remain indoors if travel isn’t essential. Street flooding and slick conditions could affect commutes, especially near Buffalo Bayou, Brays Bayou, and major underpasses.
Emergency officials recommend charging phones, checking for updates frequently, and avoiding walking or driving through water-covered roads—just six inches of water can sweep a vehicle off the road.
This marks the latest in a string of late-summer downpours hitting Southeast Texas, with more rainfall possible into the weekend. Additional flood advisories may be issued as conditions develop.
Warnings remain in effect through 4 p.m. Friday. Check back for updates as weather conditions evolve.
