Houston, TX – A deputy-involved shooting outside a Walgreens in north Harris County sent a man to the hospital after authorities said he resisted arrest and ignored multiple warnings late Saturday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a suspicious person at the Walgreens located at 12097 Aldine Westfield Road. Chief John Nanny briefed reporters, stating deputies had earlier received a similar complaint involving the same individual, but he had left before officers arrived.

When a deputy confronted the man in the parking lot, he allegedly fled on foot and resisted arrest. Authorities said the deputy deployed a Taser twice, but it had no effect. The man continued to walk away despite repeated commands, leading the deputy to draw his firearm and fire a single shot. Officials said the round struck the suspect in the wrist and hip.

EMS transported the man to HCA Houston Northwest Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. No weapons were found on the suspect.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the individual has a history of criminal trespassing citations at the same Walgreens, allegedly harassing customers on multiple occasions.

The deputy involved has not been publicly identified. The Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains under investigation, and body camera footage will be reviewed as part of the standard process in officer-involved shootings.
