Houston, TX – A sharp drop in temperatures will bring dangerously cold wind chills to the Houston area starting tonight, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory from midnight to 10 a.m. Thursday. Wind chills could fall between 10 to 15 degrees, creating hazardous conditions for those outdoors.
According to the National Weather Service, north winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, will contribute to the bitter cold. Officials warn that prolonged exposure could lead to hypothermia, especially for those without proper winter clothing. Residents are urged to dress in layers, keep pets indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Thursday will remain cold but sunny, with a high of 45°F and brisk winds keeping wind chills in the teens during the morning hours. Cloud cover will increase Thursday night as lows dip to 31°F.
A gradual warming trend will arrive by the weekend. Highs will reach the upper 50s on Saturday and near 60°F by Sunday, providing a brief taste of spring after the Arctic chill fades.
