Houston, Texas – The air feels thick before lunchtime, and the concrete is already radiating heat across Southeast Texas. By midafternoon Sunday, stepping outside could feel more like 108 degrees as dangerous humidity combines with rising temperatures across the Houston area.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday, covering much of Southeast Texas, including Houston, Pasadena, Baytown, League City, Pearland, Sugar Land, Conroe, Galveston, and surrounding communities. Heat index values could approach 108 degrees, creating an elevated risk of heat-related illnesses.

Sunday begins with a small chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the morning hours. Skies gradually brighten through the afternoon as temperatures climb toward 94 degrees. South winds between 10 and 15 mph may provide only limited relief.

The larger weather pattern across the southern United States continues to support isolated heavy downpours and thunderstorms. While widespread flooding is not expected in Houston, meteorologists continue monitoring Gulf Coast moisture that could trigger localized storms. Any thunderstorm could briefly reduce visibility and create ponding on roadways.

Drivers on I-45, I-10, Beltway 8, Highway 59, and the Grand Parkway should keep water in their vehicles and avoid prolonged exposure if stranded in traffic. Heat stress can develop quickly during afternoon hours.

Monday brings even hotter conditions. High temperatures are expected to reach 96 degrees, with mostly sunny skies dominating much of the day. Tuesday and Wednesday remain similarly hot, with highs near 96 degrees and only limited rain chances.

Long-range outlooks continue favoring above-normal temperatures across Texas into late next week, reinforcing a prolonged stretch of summer heat.
