Texas – Thick humidity clings to the air across Houston this afternoon, and low clouds hang overhead as the atmosphere quietly builds toward change. The air feels heavy, and a few isolated storms could still break through.

According to the National Weather Service, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops this afternoon, with highs near 82°F and winds gusting up to 20 mph. While coverage remains limited, any storm could briefly bring heavy rain and reduced visibility.

Across Houston, Sugar Land, and Pasadena, drivers along I-45, I-10, and the Beltway should watch for sudden slick spots. Short bursts of rain may create quick slowdowns, especially during busy travel hours. Keep headlights on and allow extra distance between vehicles.

Conditions begin to settle by Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and highs climbing into the low 80s. The bigger shift comes by midweek, when drier air and more sunshine take over. Temperatures hold near 83°F Wednesday before rising to around 87°F by Thursday.

This warming trend will bring a noticeable change in feel. After several humid and cloudy days, skies clear and afternoons turn brighter and warmer. By Friday, highs remain in the mid-80s with a continued mix of sun and clouds.

Looking ahead, a slight return of moisture is possible into the weekend, with storm chances creeping back into the picture. For now, the focus remains on today’s isolated rain and the building warmth behind it.
