Houston, Texas – A cool, gray pattern settles over the Houston area today, bringing mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of light drizzle as temperatures hold below recent highs across southeast Texas.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston, highs today will range from the upper 50s to the lower 60s across the metro area, with the best chance for light showers or sprinkles hovering around 15 to 20 percent. Any rain that does develop is expected to be brief and light, producing little to no measurable accumulation.
Cloud cover will remain persistent through the afternoon, limiting daytime warming and keeping conditions cool for commuters and outdoor plans. While widespread travel issues are not expected, damp roadways could develop in spots during the morning and early afternoon hours, particularly along major corridors such as Interstate 10, U.S. 59, and the Loop 610 corridor.
Winds remain relatively light, helping keep conditions stable but reinforcing the cool feel under thick cloud cover. Tonight stays mostly cloudy, with temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 40s across much of the Houston area, including Sugar Land, Pasadena, and The Woodlands.
The quiet pattern continues into Wednesday before a noticeable temperature rebound arrives later in the week. Forecasters note a temperature roller coaster is ahead, with highs bouncing between the upper 50s, 60s, and near 70 on alternating days. Despite the swings, rain chances remain low after today, with dry conditions favored heading toward the weekend.
Residents are encouraged to dress in layers and remain cautious on potentially slick roads during any passing drizzle. While no weather advisories are in effect, officials urge staying weather-aware as subtle changes in cloud cover or moisture could briefly affect conditions today.
More updates are expected as southeast Texas transitions into a milder midweek pattern.
