Houston, TX – Texans can expect a messy day today as showers and thunderstorms dominate the forecast. A 90% chance of rain will make morning commutes slick, with new rainfall amounts ranging from half an inch to three-quarters of an inch. Temperatures will hover near 71°F but will drop significantly by evening as a cold front sweeps in.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are likely through late morning, followed by intermittent showers into the afternoon. Drivers on major roads like I-45 and Highway 59 are urged to reduce speeds and allow extra travel time due to wet conditions. Winds could reach up to 20 mph, further complicating travel.

Looking ahead, showers and a few thunderstorms could persist into the evening, with temperatures falling to 60°F by nightfall. Thursday promises cooler, drier conditions with only a 20% chance of rain and highs around 63°F. However, showers will return Friday night and Saturday, bringing a 70% chance of rain and highs in the upper 50s.

By Sunday, the region may see heavy rain again, with potential thunderstorms creating localized flooding risks. Temperatures will climb slightly to a high near 69°F, but the wet weather pattern could continue into early next week.

Stay updated on road closures and weather changes by monitoring local alerts. Prepare for delays and ensure vehicles are equipped for wet conditions.
