HOUSTON, Texas – Clear skies and late-summer heat are returning to southeast Texas, but so are air quality concerns. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued an Ozone Action Day for Tuesday, October 14, warning residents across Houston, Galveston, and Brazoria counties of potentially high ozone levels.

Atmospheric conditions are favorable for ground-level ozone formation, especially during the warm afternoons. Residents are urged to limit driving, reduce idling, and carpool or use public transit to help cut emissions. The alert remains in effect through Tuesday evening.

Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and highs near 89°F, with calm northeast winds around 5 mph. Wednesday remains mostly sunny, climbing again to the upper 80s, while Thursday continues the trend of warm and dry weather before a slight chance of showers returns Friday and Saturday.

Despite the heat, no significant rainfall or storm threats are expected midweek — making it ideal for outdoor plans, though air quality may deteriorate during the afternoon. Sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, should limit prolonged outdoor activity during peak ozone hours (2–7 p.m.).

Five-Day Forecast for Houston, TX:
Tue: 89/68 – Sunny and warm; Air Quality Alert in effect.
Wed: 87/68 – Mostly sunny and hazy.
Thu: 85/72 – Partly sunny; light southeast breeze.
Fri: 86/74 – Chance of afternoon storms (40%).
Sat: 89/73 – Scattered showers; humid and breezy.
