Houston, Texas – Southeast Texas will swelter again Tuesday as heat indices climb into the triple digits, with highs ranging from the low 90s along the coast to the upper 90s inland. Morning showers and thunderstorms are expected along the Gulf Coast before scattered storms move inland during the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston, the strongest rainfall chances will remain near coastal areas early, but isolated downpours could reach Houston, College Station, and Huntsville later in the day. Gusty winds and brief heavy rain may accompany stronger storms, although overall coverage should be less than Monday’s.
Roadways could become slick during heavier showers, and lightning will be a hazard for outdoor workers and beachgoers. Residents are urged to limit time outside during peak heating, stay hydrated, and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning.
Overnight lows will remain warm, hovering in the mid to upper 70s, offering little relief from the day’s heat. The heat and storm pattern is likely to persist into midweek.
