Houston, TX – A late-week cold front will finally pump the brakes on the above-normal warmth across Southeast Texas, bringing temperatures back to seasonal levels and boosting rain chances heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston.

Highs through Wednesday remain well above normal, with many locations running close to daily record levels. Cities including Houston, Galveston, Conroe, and College Station will see highs in the upper 70s to low/mid-80s, with overnight lows staying mild in the 60s to low 70s.

By Thursday night into Friday, the incoming front will drop temperatures back toward average. High temperatures Friday and Saturday trend cooler, generally in the mid-60s to low 70s across the region.

Rain chances begin to increase Wednesday, but the higher coverage arrives late in the week and into the weekend. The NWS forecast shows:

  • Thursday: 15–45% rain chances
  • Friday: Widespread 50–70% coverage
  • Saturday: 40–50% chances lingering
  • Sunday: 30–40% lingering showers

Locations such as Huntsville, Livingston, and Houston show the highest probabilities heading into Friday.

Forecasters say the pattern will bring a more unsettled finish to the week but no significant severe weather threat at this time.
