Houston, TX – A strong cold front is set to sweep through Southeast Texas on Tuesday, bringing a burst of fall air, scattered storms, and much cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston.

Forecasters say the front will push through the region Tuesday afternoon, producing isolated showers and thunderstorms before breezy northwest winds usher in drier, cooler air. Temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s and 50s overnight, with highs only reaching the 60s to low 70s through the weekend.

“True fall weather is on the horizon,” meteorologists wrote Sunday, noting that the pattern shift will deliver some of the most seasonable conditions so far this autumn.

The front will also bring gusty winds late Tuesday into Wednesday, potentially making it feel even cooler across the Houston metro and coastal counties. The drier air is expected to linger into next weekend, providing clear skies and mild afternoons.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, check heating systems, and plan for cooler mornings starting midweek.
