Houston, TX – The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has extended Severe Thunderstorm Watch 631 through 7 a.m. Saturday, as clusters of storms continue moving across southeast Texas.

The watch covers 13 counties, including Harris, Galveston, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Liberty, and Brazoria, along with several surrounding areas. Cities under the advisory include Houston, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Conroe, Galveston, Pearland, and Angleton.

Forecasters warn that damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall remain possible early this morning as the storm system tracks eastward. Residents may experience localized flooding, particularly in low-lying and urban areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest storms are expected to weaken near sunrise, but isolated thunderstorms may persist through the morning commute. Drivers are urged to use caution, avoid flooded roads, and stay tuned to local weather updates in case warnings are issued.

Conditions are expected to improve later in the morning as drier air moves into the region.
