Houston, TX – Heavy rain, isolated thunderstorms, and rough marine conditions are expected to continue through Friday across Southeast Texas, prompting multiple weather advisories for the region.

According to the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office, a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT Friday, covering areas from High Island to the Matagorda Shipping Channel, including Galveston Bay and Matagorda Bay. Wind speeds of 20-25 knots from the east to southeast, with gusts up to 45 knots, will create hazardous conditions with seas reaching 6 to 9 feet.

Inland, periods of locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are likely, especially south of I-10 and west of I-45. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are forecast through Friday evening, with a slight risk of excessive rain in places like Bay City, Columbus, and Sugar Land.

Coastal communities should prepare for rough bay waters and beach hazards, while residents inland may see damaging wind gusts and hail. Conditions are expected to gradually improve from west to east Friday afternoon, though lingering showers could continue near the coast.
