HOUSTON, Texas – Southeast Texas is set for a steamy stretch with triple-digit heat index values and increasing rain chances, particularly early next week. The National Weather Service says isolated storms remain possible Saturday, but the most widespread coverage is expected Monday and Tuesday, when some areas could see locally heavy downpours.
According to forecasters, Monday’s rain chances could exceed 50% across parts of the region, including Harris, Galveston, and Montgomery counties. Afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 90s combined with high humidity will push the heat index into the 105–108°F range for many communities. Outdoor workers and vulnerable groups should take extra precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous activity during peak heat hours.
By midweek, storm coverage is expected to decrease, with rain potential gradually tapering into next weekend. While the heat may ease slightly early next week, triple-digit heat index values will linger, maintaining the risk of heat stress for those without adequate cooling.
