Pendleton, Oregon – Triple-digit temperatures are on track to bake Pendleton and much of Eastern Oregon through midweek, with highs nearing 98°F by Wednesday and dangerously dry conditions lingering.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, the heat will intensify starting Sunday, with highs of 91°F rising steadily through Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday’s peak will hit 93°F, and Tuesday could see 97°F, with mostly sunny skies and light winds offering little relief. A few evening clouds may roll in, but no substantial cooling is expected until late Thursday.

Pendleton residents should avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak hours and hydrate frequently. South to northwest winds may gust up to 20 mph this weekend, raising fire danger in open areas across Umatilla County.

The heat comes on the heels of a dry pattern that’s persisted through July, further drying vegetation across the region. Officials advise checking cooling centers and preparing for potential air quality alerts, especially for sensitive groups.

A slight chance of showers reenters the picture late Wednesday night into Friday, though temperatures remain well above seasonal averages.

⚠️ Heat risk continues through Thursday — additional advisories may be issued as the week progresses.
