Colorado residents should prepare for soaring temperatures and dry conditions, particularly in the high country, where breezy conditions are expected to contribute to elevated fire risks. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Denver/Boulder, today’s temperatures will exceed seasonal norms, with highs reaching up to 100°F in some areas.
The NWS has issued a heat advisory, effective from 11 AM MDT on Monday, July 30. This advisory encompasses Fort Collins, Longmont, Boulder, Denver, and surrounding suburbs. Residents can expect temperatures to range between 98°F and 101°F. The advisory warns that such high temperatures may cause heat-related illnesses, emphasizing the need for hydration and seeking shade or air-conditioned environments.
In addition to the heat advisory, an Ozone Action Day Alert remains in effect for Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, and other counties until 4 PM on Monday. This alert advises reducing vehicle emissions to help improve air quality, which is currently rated as moderate.
The forecast for the week ahead shows persistently high temperatures, with highs in the upper 90s expected through Thursday. Cooler weather is anticipated by the weekend, with highs dropping to the low 90s on Saturday and Sunday.
