Monee, IL – Monee will host “The Moving Wall” from Thursday, September 5th, through Sunday, September 9th. The Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., honors the more than 58,000 veterans who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. This event is part of Monee’s 150th-anniversary celebration and coincides with the village’s annual Fall Fest, making it a pivotal moment for the community.

The exhibit will open to the public at noon on Thursday. A motorcycle parade, featuring flags from all military branches, will kick off the opening ceremony at 5 p.m. Medal of Honor recipient Allen J. Lynch will deliver the keynote address, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by Vietnam veterans.

Events continue throughout the weekend, including a nurse’s name reading at noon on Saturday and a closing ceremony at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The Wall will remain open 24 hours a day during its stay, offering ample opportunities for visitors to pay their respects.

This moving tribute provides the Chicago area with a chance to honor those who served. For more details, including event schedules and volunteer opportunities, visit the Village of Monee’s official website.
