Homewood, IL – Commuters using the Homewood Metra station should plan ahead this weekend as the southernmost parking lot on Park Avenue will be closed for maintenance, beginning Friday evening, October 17.
According to the Village of Homewood Public Works Department, the lot at 18015 Park Ave. will be shut down from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, through 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, for sealcoating and restriping. The project aims to maintain and improve the surface condition of the lot, which serves daily train riders and visitors.
During this time, all vehicles must be removed by 7 p.m. Friday, officials said. Any cars remaining in the lot after that time will be towed at the owner’s expense. Drivers are also asked not to return to the area until barricades and signage are removed and the pavement is fully dry.
The closure will affect the southernmost Metra commuter lot along Park Avenue, just north of 183rd Street. Alternate parking arrangements should be made in advance.
Public Works officials apologized for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience as crews complete the necessary upgrades.
