Homewood, IL – Halloween spirit is taking over Homewood as the annual Haunted Homewood Halloween House Decorating Contest makes its return this October. Residents are invited to showcase their most festive and frightening decorations, with entries due by noon on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.
According to the Village of Homewood, judging will take place on Monday, Oct. 27, from 6–8:30 p.m., with winners officially announced on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025. Homes will be judged in three categories: Scariest, Child Friendly, and Most Creative Theme.
Winners in each category will receive a $50 Aurelio’s gift card along with a yard sign to proudly display their spooky success. Decorations must be family-friendly, PG-rated, and visible from the street. The contest is open to all Homewood residents, though village employees and officials are excluded.
The Village encourages residents to apply early and bring out their most creative haunted themes. With the Halloween season in full swing, organizers hope to see homes across the community decked out in spider webs, skeletons, and glowing pumpkins.
