Homewood, IL: Fatal Motorcycle Crash at 183rd and Hood Early Saturday Claims Man’s Life

Homewood, IL – A Markham man died Saturday morning following a fatal motorcycle crash at a busy Homewood intersection.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 183rd Street and Hood Avenue, where a motorcycle traveling westbound collided with a northbound vehicle, according to a release from the Village of Homewood Police Department. Officers responded to the scene alongside the Homewood Fire Department after receiving reports of a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash.

The motorcyclist, identified only as a 42-year-old male from Markham, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities say the crash took place in the 1200 block of 183rd Street as the motorcycle struck a vehicle crossing from northbound Hood Avenue.

The Homewood Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is currently handling the case with support from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART). Investigators are working to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
