Champaign, IL – Champaign Police responded to a home invasion on the 1200 block of Harrington Drive early Sunday morning, where a homeowner fatally shot an intruder. The incident occurred at 4:09 a.m. Police found two men injured and began administering emergency aid with assistance from the Champaign Fire Department.
One man, the homeowner, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm and was taken to a local hospital. The other individual, identified as the intruder, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports suggest the homeowner confronted the intruder, leading to a physical altercation. During the struggle, the homeowner fired multiple shots, injuring himself and fatally wounding the intruder.
