Riverview, FL – An eleventh-grade student at Riverview High School was arrested Friday after deputies say he allegedly brought a knife onto school grounds during a dispute with another student.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, administrators were alerted on October 10, 2025 (Friday), to a possible fight involving a student who reportedly had a weapon.
A search of the student’s backpack uncovered a kitchen-style fixed blade knife, according to investigators. Detectives say the student had allegedly threatened another male student during an argument over a female classmate.
The teen was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon on school property and disrupting a school campus or function, deputies said.
No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed the school day continued under increased supervision. The sheriff’s office commended administrators for their quick action and reminded parents that all weapons are strictly prohibited on school grounds.
The investigation remains ongoing.
