Valrico, FL – A murder-suicide in Valrico left two people dead after deputies discovered the bodies inside a home Thursday morning.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call around 9:22 a.m. from a man who allegedly told dispatchers he had “done something bad and that he was sorry.” Deputies responded to a home in the 1000 block of Crystal Carbon Way but received no answer at the door.

While deputies were on scene, the victim’s employer reportedly called dispatch, expressing concern that the victim had not been to work for several days. Authorities then entered the home to conduct a welfare check and found both the victim and the suspect dead.

Investigators said the victim appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma to the upper body. The suspect appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with a firearm located nearby.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy that has left a family and community grieving,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Violence is never the answer. If you or someone you know is struggling, organizations like the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay are here to help. Our hearts are with the loved ones impacted as they face the painful road ahead.”

The investigation remains active, and the sheriff’s office said updates will be provided as more details are confirmed.

Authorities reminded the public that anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts can call the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay at 211, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information can be found at https://www.crisiscenter.com.
