Brandon, Florida – Dozens of workers in Hillsborough County are preparing for sudden job loss as a major restaurant closure takes effect within days.

According to a WARN notice filed with the state of Florida, Bahama Breeze will permanently close its location at 805 Brandon Town Center Drive, impacting 86 employees. The shutdown is scheduled to take effect Sunday, with layoffs tied directly to the restaurant’s closure.

The filing states the restaurant employed 86 workers as of late March, including servers, cooks, bartenders, and management staff. Positions affected range from general manager to line cooks and utility staff, signaling a full operational shutdown rather than a partial reduction.

While the company has indicated some employees may be offered opportunities at other locations, it remains unclear how many workers will be able to transfer. The notice also confirms employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.

This closure adds to a growing list of retail and restaurant impacts across Florida as companies adjust operations. Workers are encouraged to begin job searches immediately and explore state reemployment resources.

The closure is expected to be finalized by Sunday, with no reopening plans announced.
