Highland, IN — The Highland Police Department is warning residents about suspicious individuals soliciting door-to-door services without proper verification. These solicitors have appeared after dark, violating local ordinance restrictions, which limit solicitation between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

According to the Highland Police, no crimes have been reported in connection with these incidents, but officers urge residents to remain cautious. Police advise keeping doors locked and speaking through a locked storm door or window if solicitors arrive at your home.

Residents are not obligated to answer the door or speak with solicitors. If unsure about the person’s identity, police recommend calling 911 for assistance in confirming the legitimacy of the individual.

Additionally, social media reports suggest some property owners may consider using force against solicitors. The police strongly advise against this, urging residents to contact law enforcement instead.

If residents see anything suspicious in their neighborhood, they are encouraged to call 911. Police remind the community, “If you see something, say something.”
