Denver, CO – The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder has continued a High Wind Watch for Tuesday, December 9, 2025, covering areas along the northern Front Range — including Fort Collins, Boulder, Golden, Lakewood, Longmont, and Weld County.
Forecasters warn of west winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph possible, especially near the base of the foothills, along Highway 93, and across the Cheyenne Ridge.
The watch is in effect from 6 a.m. through Tuesday evening, and meteorologists caution that the strongest winds are likely midday into early evening before tapering off overnight.
Potential impacts include:
- Downed trees and power lines, leading to scattered power outages.
- Difficult travel for high-profile vehicles, especially on north–south highways and open stretches of Interstate 25 and U.S. 36.
- Blowing dust in rural and exposed areas, reducing visibility.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind periods, and monitor updates in case the watch is upgraded to a High Wind Warning.
