Denver, CO – The High Plains are expected to start November on a quiet note, but winter weather could make a return just in time for Thanksgiving, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).
In NOAA’s October 24, 2025, outlook, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and the Dakotas are forecast to experience above-normal temperatures and limited precipitation through early November. However, a pattern shift mid-month could send colder air spilling south from Canada, setting the stage for light snow or wintry mix in portions of western Nebraska and eastern Colorado before the holiday.
Forecasters say that while no major winter storms are expected yet, quick temperature drops and gusty winds could accompany these fronts, bringing frost and possible flurries to areas north of I-70 between November 18–25.
For most of the High Plains, that means a comfortable first half of November, followed by a cool, breezy Thanksgiving stretch — a reminder that winter is waiting just over the horizon.
