Flagstaff, Arizona – Gusty northeast winds are continuing across northern Arizona today, creating elevated fire weather concerns and difficult travel for high-profile vehicles through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, wind speeds will remain breezy with gusts reaching up to 25 to 30 mph through Saturday, especially across higher terrain and open areas along I-40 and U.S. 89. Temperatures stay cooler than average, with highs in the 50s and 60s for Flagstaff, Prescott, and the Mogollon Rim.

Communities including Page, Winslow, and Holbrook will see similar conditions, with dry air and persistent winds increasing the risk for rapid fire spread if ignition occurs. Outdoor burning is discouraged, and drivers should be cautious of sudden crosswinds, particularly on elevated roadways.

A warming trend begins Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the 70s across lower elevations by early next week. Moisture gradually returns, bringing a 10 to 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms by Monday through midweek, mainly over higher terrain.

Winds ease late Saturday night, but changing conditions early next week could bring additional advisories as storm chances increase.
