Brooksville, FL – A Hernando County jury found 49-year-old Jeannie Potter guilty Wednesday in a violent 2024 incident where prosecutors say she used her minivan as a weapon during a confrontation in Spring Hill. Potter was immediately taken into custody and will remain jailed until her sentencing on January 22, 2026, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

According to prosecutors, the case began December 23, 2024, when deputies responded to a home on Corrine Avenue after reports of a battery. When deputies arrived, they found a white minivan crashed into the home’s garage and a victim suffering leg injuries.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies that Potter, who was restricted from the property by an active court order, arrived unannounced, pulled into the driveway, and ripped multiple security cameras from the exterior of the home. When the victim stepped outside, cellphone video captured Potter entering her vehicle and driving directly toward the victim, striking them before reversing and accelerating forward again.

Officials said both Potter and the victim were taken to a local hospital for treatment. At the hospital, deputies interviewed Potter, who admitted to removing the security cameras and acknowledged accelerating toward the garage while the victim was in front of it. She told investigators she “did not hit the brake soon enough,” causing the collision.

After reviewing video evidence and witness statements, deputies arrested Potter on a charge of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Kasey Whitson and Heather Errede.
