Hernando County, FL – Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests over the holiday weekend after separate traffic stops led to methamphetamine discoveries, authorities said.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy D. Flores stopped a red SUV on November 1 near Mariner Boulevard and Lindsey Street after the driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop bar and was driving with a smashed windshield. During the stop, the driver, identified as Audrey Wells, 21, consented to a search. Deputies reportedly found 21.5 grams of methamphetamine in her bag and vehicle. Wells was arrested and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.
The next day, on November 2, Deputy Flores conducted another traffic stop, this time on a black motorcycle with flashing lights on Northcliffe Boulevard. Deputies identified the driver as William Kight, 56, who also consented to a search. K9 Deputy J. Allion located 15.84 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. Kight allegedly told deputies he “forgot that was there.” He was arrested and taken to the Hernando County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office said both arrests were part of increased proactive patrols during the holiday period aimed at removing impaired and unsafe drivers from local roads.
