Hernando County, FL – A Hernando County man was arrested Monday after allegedly dumping more than 500 pounds of construction debris along rural roadways — and then calling 911 to report a “suspicious vehicle” following him, which deputies later identified as the witness who filmed the dumping.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on Nov. 24 to Fort Dade Avenue and Citrus Way after a Good Samaritan reported seeing a man allegedly discarding construction materials. When deputies arrived, they found a large pile of debris dumped roadside.
Minutes later, a second 911 call came in from Mariner Boulevard and Cortez Boulevard. Deputies said the caller — later identified as Miguel Gonzalez-Nunez, 29 — reported a vehicle following him. Investigators determined that the “unknown vehicle” was actually the witness who had recorded the alleged dumping incident.
The witness provided video and additional information linking Gonzalez-Nunez to the debris, according to deputies.
During the investigation, authorities discovered Gonzalez-Nunez operates a construction business called “King Off Kings.” Deputies said additional illegally dumped construction material in the area matched the materials inside his vehicle.
Gonzalez-Nunez allegedly denied dumping anything and could not explain why his vehicle appeared in front of the debris pile in the witness video. He was arrested and charged with Conservation–Environment: Litter Over 500 Pounds and issued a $2,500 bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Deputies also reported that Gonzalez-Nunez is in the United States illegally. ICE placed a detainer following his arrest.
