EAST MOLINE, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) are asking for the public’s help after a pedestrian was found dead early Thursday morning along Interstate 80 in Henry County.

According to ISP Troop 2, officers responded around 12:00 a.m. on October 16, 2025, to reports of a pedestrian struck on I-80 westbound near milepost 18, roughly between East Moline and Geneseo. The individual was discovered deceased in the roadway and is believed to have been hit by a passing vehicle.

Authorities said the vehicle that struck the person has not yet been located, and the victim has not been officially identified. Investigators with the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 2 are leading the case.

State police are asking anyone who traveled through the area between 12:00 a.m. and 12:15 a.m. Thursday, or anyone who may have dashcam footage or witnessed the crash, to contact ISP Special Agents at (309) 752-4915 ext. 4937.
