Minneapolis, MN – Four people were arrested Thursday after a stolen Jeep linked to multiple thefts and gun incidents led to a police chase through Minneapolis, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
Authorities said the Jeep, stolen out of Maple Grove earlier in the day, was connected to reports of people allegedly pointing guns at bystanders during the afternoon. When HCSO’s Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled.
According to the sheriff’s office, VOTF—with help from the Minnesota State Patrol—used stop sticks to disable the Jeep. The driver then reportedly attempted to flee on foot before another passenger moved into the driver’s seat and ran over the original driver, ending the chase near Lake and Aldrich in Minneapolis.
All four occupants allegedly tried to escape but were captured with assistance from the Minneapolis Police Department and State Patrol. Six guns were recovered, including three machine guns, authorities said. Two suspects were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials credited the quick coordination between agencies for preventing further harm.
