St. Cloud, MN — A significant spring storm is poised to impact central Minnesota, bringing heavy snowfall and mixed precipitation from Tuesday morning through Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for several counties, including Benton, Meeker, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wright, Isanti, Kanabec, and Mille Lacs.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to arrive in western Minnesota by Tuesday morning, with heavy snow beginning in the afternoon and continuing overnight as the system moves eastward. Snowfall totals between 6 and 12 inches are possible, with ice accumulations around a light glaze. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, potentially causing hazardous travel conditions during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and prepare for difficult travel conditions. The heavy, wet nature of the snow may lead to power outages and tree damage. Ensure emergency kits are stocked, and plan for potential disruptions to daily activities.
