Burlington, VT – The US National Weather Service Burlington reports that a Special Weather Statement remains in effect this morning for portions of the Champlain Valley and Central Vermont as a localized heavy snow band moves southeast.
At 7:58 a.m. EST, radar indicated snow showers extending from near Morristown to Westport Village, moving southeast at about 15 mph. Winds of 25 mph or greater and visibility below one mile are possible within the band, with snow accumulation up to one inch per hour in some areas.
The weather service cautions that gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects and that rapidly changing visibility could create hazardous travel conditions.
Impacted areas include:
Vergennes, South Burlington, Morristown, Waterbury, Montpelier, Stowe, and surrounding communities.
Affected Highways:
- Interstate 89 between mile markers 59 and 84
- Interstate 87 between mile markers 115 and 120
Motorists should slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution as snow-covered roads and blowing snow may make driving difficult.
