Oswego, NY – A winter storm warning remains in effect through early Friday morning for parts of the Eastern Lake Ontario region, with significant snowfall and hazardous conditions expected to persist.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, areas across the Tug Hill Plateau are forecasted to see heavy snow accumulations ranging from 12 to 20 inches, while lower elevations could receive between 4 to 8 inches. Gusty winds reaching up to 45 mph will contribute to blowing and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility and creating treacherous travel conditions.

The warning, in place until 4 a.m. Friday, highlights impacts on the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning and evening commutes. Power outages may also occur due to downed tree branches.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution if travel is unavoidable. Snow reports can be submitted via the NWS website or social media platforms.

Stay informed and prepared as the storm progresses.
