Lanark, IL – Heavy rains lashed Carroll County, Illinois, on Saturday evening, resulting in significant flash flooding. Rainfall totals were estimated to be between 2 to 3.5 inches, causing hazardous conditions east of Mt. Carroll.
According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities, several rounds of rain fell during the evening, with the heaviest precipitation occurring around Mt. Carroll and Lanark. The Carroll County 911 dispatch reported ongoing flooding between the two towns, with water levels rising rapidly. A measurement taken one mile south of Mt. Carroll recorded 3.21 inches of rainfall.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning as roads and low-lying areas became inundated with water. Residents were advised to avoid driving through flooded streets and to seek higher ground if necessary.
