Kansas City, MO – Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to continue today across eastern Kansas and western Missouri, bringing pockets of locally heavy rainfall to the region.

According to the US National Weather Service Kansas City, the chance for severe weather remains low, but areas with the most robust and persistent activity may experience significant rainfall. The best chances for heavy rainfall are predicted in east central and southeastern Kansas into west central Missouri. Despite the low threat of severe weather, residents are advised to stay alert for localized flooding and reduced visibility during heavy downpours.

The weather pattern is expected to shift by Saturday, offering a brief respite as the area dries out. However, additional showers and storms are anticipated to move in by Sunday afternoon. The forecast for today includes temperatures ranging from 71-78°F with southeast winds of 5-10 mph. Saturday will see decreasing cloud cover with temperatures between 78-82°F and north winds around 5 mph. Sunday’s weather will bring afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 79-85°F and south winds of 5-15 mph.
