Corpus Christi, TX – Heavy rain is set to continue across Texas through the weekend, bringing significant flooding risks. Recent days of consistent rainfall have left soils saturated, increasing the likelihood of rapid flooding development.

According to the US National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, periods of heavy rain are expected today and Sunday, with areas like Alice, Beeville, and Corpus Christi experiencing precipitation probabilities ranging from 45% to 75%. Gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and cloud-to-ground lightning are anticipated storm impacts.

The Weather Prediction Center has issued an excessive rainfall outlook, with localized areas expecting 2 to 4 inches of rain, and higher amounts possible. The heaviest rainfall is likely to occur through Sunday morning, with a 15% chance for flash flooding. This heightened risk is categorized as level 2 on the local risk scale.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling and to be aware of potential flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas. The saturated soils will make it easier for flooding to develop quickly, posing a danger to both drivers and pedestrians.
