Greenville, SC – Residents in South Carolina are preparing for the arrival of Tropical Cyclone Debby, which is expected to bring significant rainfall to the region later this week. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued an advisory, indicating that Debby will move slowly over the next few days, impacting much of the western Carolinas.
According to the latest forecasts, heavy rainfall will begin Thursday, with the potential for 1 to 4 inches of rain across the region. The heaviest downpours are likely to occur along the I-77 corridor, with localized flooding possible in low-lying areas. Areas such as Spartanburg, Anderson, and Greenwood are expected to receive between 1.5 to 3 inches of rain.
The extended forecast for Greenville shows cloudy conditions today, with temperatures reaching up to 85°F. The weather will remain mild on Wednesday, but by Thursday, rain chances increase to 65%, as Debby’s outer bands approach the area. Rain will continue into Friday with a 60% chance of showers before clearing up for the weekend. Temperatures are expected to rise to the low 90s by Saturday.
