Pueblo, CO – The US National Weather Service Pueblo has issued a Flood Watch through Tuesday at noon for the San Juan Mountains and Upper Rio Grande Valley, where 2 to 3 additional inches of rain are expected to fall on already saturated ground.

Forecasters warn that this rainfall could lead to life-threatening flash flooding, especially in steep terrain, near creeks, and around low-lying roads and campgrounds. The saturated soils in the San Juans and nearby mountain valleys increase the risk of mud, rock, and debris flows across roadways and trails.

According to the Weather Service, flooding may also impact access routes near Wolf Creek Pass, Creede, Alamosa, and South Fork, with cool and cloudy conditions persisting across the plains. Residents and travelers are urged to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and to never drive through flooded roadways.

Rain will begin to taper late Tuesday, followed by gradual drying midweek.
