Charleston, WV – Rain is expected to return to Charleston and surrounding areas Sunday, with showers likely to persist through Monday morning. Southeast Ohio and parts of West Virginia are projected to see just under an inch of rain, with heavier amounts concentrated in Southeast Ohio. Commuters, particularly those traveling on I-64, should prepare for potentially slick roads as rain showers increase into Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, WV, rain will likely start late Sunday afternoon, continuing overnight with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. These storms could bring brief heavy downpours, though no severe weather is anticipated. Veterans Day on Monday is forecast to clear up by morning, bringing mostly sunny skies and highs reaching the upper 60s.

The forecast for the next five days suggests a pattern of fluctuating weather conditions. After Monday’s sunshine, Tuesday will remain clear with temperatures peaking in the low 60s. Clouds will return Wednesday evening, accompanied by a chance of showers, and temperatures will hover around 42 degrees at night. By Thursday, residents can expect partly cloudy skies and highs near 62 degrees, followed by a clear and mild Friday.

An air quality alert remains in effect through Saturday night for sensitive groups due to regional wildfire smoke drifting over from the west. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection advises children, elderly, and those with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities.
