Northern Indiana – Cloudy skies and mild conditions will precede scattered showers expected to begin Monday in Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, according to the National Weather Service. Monday’s forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain in far northwest Indiana and southwest Lower Michigan, with totals over an inch possible near Lake Michigan. Temperatures could reach near-record highs, with afternoon highs in the mid-70s, while lows remain unusually warm, in the low 60s.

The National Weather Service advises residents to prepare for potentially slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly for those commuting along I-94. While not all areas will see rain Monday, the region can expect widespread showers to increase Tuesday afternoon and evening, with rainfall probabilities between 50% and 90%. These conditions could contribute to minor flooding in low-lying areas by mid-week.

Extended Forecast:

• Monday: Mostly cloudy, high of 73°F, with scattered showers likely, particularly near Lake Michigan.

• Tuesday: Showers becoming widespread, high of 74°F, with an 80% chance of rain by afternoon and evening.

• Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 63°F and lows in the low 40s. Conditions should dry out, providing some relief.

• Thursday and Friday: Sunny skies will return, with highs in the lower 60s.

Residents should monitor local updates and prepare for changing conditions throughout the week, especially if commuting along major roadways like I-94, where rain could impact visibility and traffic flow. As temperatures drop midweek, pack accordingly for cooler evenings, and take precautions during peak rainfall hours.
