Tampa, FL – A heat advisory is in effect for much of Florida today as westerly winds from the Gulf will keep muggy air in place, resulting in dangerously high heat index values between 108 and 112 degrees Fahrenheit. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and take necessary precautions to stay safe in the extreme heat.
According to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay, the heat advisory will primarily affect areas along the western coast, including cities like Chiefland, Brooksville, St. Petersburg, and Fort Myers. High temperatures combined with elevated humidity levels can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The forecast for Tampa shows partly cloudy skies with a high of 91°F today. The heat will continue into Friday with similar conditions. The weekend brings a slight chance of rain, with scattered thunderstorms predicted on Saturday and Sunday, though temperatures will remain in the low 90s. The start of next week will see sunny skies and rising temperatures, peaking at 93°F on Monday and remaining above 90°F through Wednesday.
