Miami, FL – A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of southeast, southern, and southwest Florida today as high humidity and soaring temperatures combine to create dangerous conditions. From noon until 6 p.m. EDT, heat index values are expected to climb between 105 and 110°F, posing a significant risk of heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service, this intense heat will impact areas including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Naples, and parts of the Florida Keys. Residents in these areas are advised to take extra precautions, especially when spending time outdoors.

As temperatures rise, it’s essential to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments for those working outdoors. Be mindful of the signs of heat exhaustion, such as heavy sweating, weakness, and dizziness, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms worsen.

The advisory is set to expire at 6 p.m. today, but residents should stay informed in case the advisory is extended or further warnings are issued.
