Nashville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for several Middle Tennessee counties today, with dangerously high heat index values expected to reach or exceed 105°F. The advisory will remain in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT today.

According to the NWS, the combination of high temperatures and elevated humidity levels will make outdoor conditions extremely hazardous, especially for those involved in outdoor activities or those without access to air conditioning. Affected areas include Nashville, Murfreesboro, Columbia, Hendersonville, Clarksville, and other nearby cities.

Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible, and limit outdoor exposure,” the NWS warned. “Check on vulnerable neighbors, friends, and family, especially the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.”

With no relief expected until later this evening, authorities caution that prolonged exposure to the heat could result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Travelers and outdoor workers should take extra care.

Stay alert as additional heat-related warnings could be issued through the day if conditions worsen.
