Wilson, KS – A magnitude 3.1 earthquake was recorded Thursday evening, about 5 kilometers north of Wilson, Kansas, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Early data indicate the quake was lightly felt in surrounding communities, though there have been no reports of damage or injuries. Residents in the area are encouraged to report any shaking they experienced via the USGS “Did You Feel It?” survey to help refine intensity estimates.
While Kansas is not considered a major seismic zone, occasional minor earthquakes occur, often linked to natural fault movement or regional subsurface activity.
No aftershocks have been reported at this time. The USGS National Earthquake Information Center continues to monitor the area for any additional seismic activity.
