Preliminary findings indicate that a 21-year-old Pontiac man driving a 2022 Honda Civic southbound on Joslyn Road lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, struck roadside objects, and then hit a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu stopped at a red light.
Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said the accident resulted in the deaths of a 37-year-old Pontiac parent and two children, ages 6 and 4, who were passengers in the Malibu. A third child, age 9, was transported to Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in critical condition.
“This unimaginable tragedy has taken the lives of a parent and two young children. Our investigators will work tirelessly to determine the full circumstances of this incident, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family as they navigate this profound loss,” Bouchard said in a statement.
