Hastings, Nebraska – Windy conditions and mild temperatures are sweeping through Nebraska early this week, with gusts up to 40 mph expected Tuesday and a slight chance for evening showers by Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, low temperatures Monday night will dip into the 40s and low 50s under partly cloudy skies. Tuesday will bring a noticeable uptick in wind, with northwesterly gusts between 30–40 mph and daytime highs ranging from the upper 50s in the north to low 70s in southern regions.

On Wednesday, conditions will remain breezy, especially along and north of Interstate 80, where gusts could reach 25 mph. Highs are forecast in the mid-60s to upper 70s, and there’s a 15–25% chance of light afternoon or evening showers. Any rainfall is expected to be minimal.

Drivers should use caution during peak wind hours, particularly on north-south roads like Highway 281. Secure outdoor items and limit travel in high-profile vehicles if winds intensify.

The pattern calms by Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and highs again in the 60s and 70s. No additional alerts are currently issued, but updates may follow if conditions shift.
