Hastings, Neb. – Scattered storms are expected this morning mainly east of Highway 281, with more isolated showers and thunderstorms possible through Monday evening. Gusty south winds could reach up to 25 mph, making travel slightly more difficult at times.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, storm chances today remain highest for areas east and southeast of Highway 281. The risk for widespread severe storms remains low, though brief downpours and lightning may affect outdoor plans. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s, with overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Conditions improve Tuesday as mostly sunny skies return, bringing calmer winds and warmer temperatures in the low to mid-80s. By Friday, central Nebraska could see highs nearing 90 degrees. While small, periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms linger through next weekend, forecasters say any organized severe weather looks unlikely at this time.
Residents are advised to use caution on rural roads during gusty winds and keep an eye out for changing skies east of Highway 281.
